40 Days of Lent: Day 14

40 Days of Lent: Day 14

There are many saying about the wisdom of keeping good company, finding people to journey with, or allowing ourself to be comforted by others. Truly, moments of happiness can be better celebrated if they are shared. On the other hand, challenging experiences can be less difficult to go through if we have someone to hold our hand and support us.

Perhaps it is in our nature to look and long for companions and deep connections. Have you found yours? Do you have people you can easily turn to, with whom you can be authentic, and whom you trust with your life? Can you think of those who would always have your back and be with you in good and bad times? Who are family members, friends, colleagues or partners that revel in the good that you do and help re-direct you if you go astray?

God never meant for us to be isolated and desolate. We see this in how Jesus came to be with us in this wounded world, divine as he was. But his salvation did not end with his sacrifice on the cross because certainly, our Lord remains present to us through other people who bring his sense of healing, wholeness and home. It is one hope of our heart that we may find, recognize and keep those who can walk with us in this life. And the Father, Son and Spirit fulfill this desire for they always send us love through persons who become our angels, helpers and guides.
