Call for Abstracts: 2023 IACR Conference

19 Mar 2023

2023 IACR Conference

The theme of this year’s conference (“Describing + Explaining + Evaluating: The Scientific Method Revisited”) provides scholars and researchers–both critical realist and not–an opportunity to take a step back and reflect on the way we investigate phenomena and the underlying assumptions that shape the way we describe and explain them. Aside from explicitly critical realist-informed work, we welcome contributions from areas of research that may have a bearing on the conference theme such as (but not limited to) philosophy of science, philosophy of social science, philosophy of education, science and technology studies, research methodologies in the social sciences, social ontology and theory, and realism understood broadly.

Are you looking for some guidance in designing and conducting your research? If so, join us at this conference!

Registration for both local and international participants is now open on the conference website.

Students who wish to receive feedback and guidance on ongoing research work related to the conference theme may opt to present during the pre-conference scheduled on August 7 and 8. They can directly send their abstracts to iacr2023@ateneo.edu. Other students, faculty, scholars, and practitioners of critical realism and related frameworks can present during the conference proper by submitting their abstracts at critrealap.net/iacr/submissions.

The IACR also publishes the Journal of Critical Realism (JCR), a Scopus-index publication. Special issues on past IACR conferences have been published at the JCR. Conference presenters for IACR 2023 may submit their final papers after the conference, for consideration at the JCR.

Should you require some subsidy, please email us the specific form of assistance that you require and the reason(s) for your request.
