AGS is PAYA chess 1st runner-up

The AGS chess varsity team finished the PAYA (Philippine Athletic Youth Association) Midgets Division Chess Tournament in second place. The team was comprised of Shealtiel Blanca (6-Mactan), Rommel Magsumbol (6-Kawit), Gian Alingog (6- Kawit), Sebastian Elizalde (6-Pugad Lawin) and Andrew Munar (6-EDSA). The following also won individual awards for winning the most games in their assigned boards: Gian Alingog won the gold medal for board 3, Sebastian Elizalde won the gold medal for board 4, Shealtiel Blanca won the silver medal for Board 1, and Rommel Magsumbol won the silver medal for board 2. Our boys bested teams from Claret School of Quezon City, La Salle Greenhills, De La Salle Zobel and Lourdes School of Quezon City in the competition, which was held during the first two weekends of February 2019 in Xavier School, San Juan City.
