Crediting of College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) Examinations

The Loyola Schools encourages incoming first year college students to apply for credit for the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP) Exams they have taken in high school. The crediting of AP or IB DP exams will give students the flexibility and space to complete other programs such as a Minor or Specialization, pursue a double degree, participate in a student mobility program, or take additional free electives.

  1. The maximum combined number of units that can be credited through AP, IB DP and the Credit by Exam Program (CEP) of the Loyola Schools is 18 units.
  2. If a student has both AP scores and IB DP scores eligible for credit in the same subject, the student may apply for credit from the AP exam or the IB DP exam, but not both.
  3. Students who did not automatically receive credit for their AP or IB scores are highly encouraged to take the CEP.

Policy on Crediting College Board's Advanced Placement (AP) Exam

  1. The Loyola Schools may credit the College Board AP Examinations taken by incoming first year college students within the last four years.
