Minors and Specializations

Minor programs are open to Loyola Schools undergraduate students. Specialization programs are open to Loyola Schools undergraduate students majoring in Computer Science or Management Information Systems.
 
Specialization / Minor in Data Science and Analytics
 
This program provides the principles and builds skills in the science of why and how we use data. Topics include, but are not limited to, the development and application of analytical models and methods to acquire important insights from data; complex systems and their behavior; optimal non-trivial decision making; and techniques in performing computation simulations in various areas of business and sciences where actual experiments are either impractical or impossible.

Pre-requisite:
STAT 107 or any equivalent Statistics course

CS 24 – Introduction to Programming and Databases (for non-DISCS majors only)
CS 129.1 – Special Topics in Software Engineering: Contemporary Databases
CS 129.15 – Special Topics in Software Engineering: Business Intelligence

Specialization / Minor in Enterprise Systems
 
This program provides the necessary knowledge and in-depth understanding of the nature of enterprise systems. Topics include, but are not limited to, the benefits and challenges one may encounter in acquiring, managing, and using enterprise systems; the requirements of large and small- and medium-sized organizations with respect to enterprise systems; and management of vendors and the process of acquiring and implementing enterprise systems. Hands-on experience with industry-grade enterprise systems is also provided.

Specialization / Minor in Interactive Multimedia
 
This program teaches students to create highly-interactive and media rich applications for PC's, consoles, or handheld devices, including but not limited to games and simulations. The program encourages development of original content.
