ASOG partners with Oxfam Pilipinas to conduct training on Building Resilient, Adaptive, and Disaster-Ready Communities (B-READY)

31 Mar 2022

The Ateneo School of Government (ASOG) with Oxfam Pilipinas conducted a three-week online training program as part of upscaling the project initiative, B-READY (Building Resilient, Adaptive, and Disaster-Ready Communities). Twelve local government units coming from Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao underwent a series of synchronous live discussions, workshops, and asynchronous activities.

The training, “A Strategic Pre-disaster Approach and Anticipatory Action: ASOG-OXFAM Training on Building Resilient, Adaptive, and Disaster-Ready Communities (B-READY)” is composed of three modules. Module 1 focused on innovative approaches to safe, inclusive, and efficient pre-emptive cash transfer assistance.

Module 2 is centered on digital financial inclusion and cash voucher assistance.

The last module is a workshop on revisiting and enhancing the disaster risk reduction plans of the participants.

The workshop helped the participants to contextualize B-READY in their local policies, especially with how the recent typhoon Odettte has left a massive destruction in the country. Participating LGUs were encouraged to take the next steps to ensure that their outputs in the workshop will come into fruition through policy enhancement with concerned agencies, continuing education programs on DRRM, and establishment of financial intermediaries in DRR plans.
