A message of gratitude from Ateneo de Manila University

29 Jul 2022 | Ateneo de Manila University

The entire Ateneo de Manila community is truly grateful for the assistance and response of security, law enforcement, and local government personnel during the incident at the Loyola Heights campus last Sunday, 24 July 2022.

We would like to thank personnel from Quezon City Police District, PNP Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, National Bureau of Investigation, Barangay Loyola Heights, Metro Manila Development Authority, and Quezon City local government unit, for their immediate response, as well as for their speedy investigation of the incident.

We are also grateful for the assistance of many members of the public – drivers, bystanders, and others – who were instrumental in helping catch the perpetrator and take him in for custody.

Lastly, we are truly indebted to our campus security, Areté staff, and medical personnel, who were the very first to respond to the incident. Their quick and heroic actions in securing the Areté complex, locking down the entire Loyola Heights campus, and their immediate cooperation with police and barangay officials, were key in speeding up the investigation. One of their own, SG Jeneven Bandiala, lost his life in the line of duty, and Ateneo will always remember his heroic act.

Again, Ateneo will always be grateful for their response and assistance during this tragic incident.
