Miguel Tagarda wins silver for PH at Fermat Math Olympiad

Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Grade School mathletes Miguel Tagarda (3-Taal) and Ethan Alferez (4-Maniago) won silver and bronze awards, respectively, at the Fermat Mathematical Olympiad (FMO) Final Round 2021. Miguel competed in the grade 1 division while Ethan competed in the grade 2 category of the FMO Final, which was held online on March 12-13, 2022.
The FMO is an annual competition developed and held by Fermat Education, an authorized Vietnamese organization board that is involved in many international Olympiads. It is open to all students from kindergarten to grade 9 who have a strong interest in Mathematics, and focuses on how the contestants read, understand, and analyze math problems. The FMO 2021 Final Round attracted participants from Bulgaria, Indonesia, Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam to its “friendly and accessible” mathematical playground.
