Ateneo de Manila University has entered the Times Higher Education (THE) subject rankings for the first time, as it ranked among the top global institutions in Education and Social Sciences.

The University was ranked in the 401-500 bracket for Education, and in the 801+ bracket for Social Sciences in the 2023 THE Subject Rankings released Tuesday, 25 OCtober 2022.

According to THE, the rankings showcase the top institutions per major academic discipline, from the arts and humanities to the sciences.

The Education rankings "highlights the universities that are leading across the following disciplines: education, teacher training, and academic studies in education," while the Social Sciences rankings included "communication and media studies, politics and international studies (including development studies), sociology and geography."

For Education, a total of 655 institutions were ranked; for Social Sciences, 941 universities were included in the ranking.

As with the World University Rankings, this is the first time Ateneo has entered any of the individual subject rankings. The subject rankings use the data from the THE World University Rankings but are evaluated based on the disciplines, THE said.
