02 Nov 2022
Representing the Philippines, Ateneo de Manila Senior High School (ASHS) student Cassidy Tan (12-Navarro) was awarded Honorable Mention at the 34th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI), which was held in the special region of Yogyakarta in Indonesia from August 7 – 15, 2022.
Cassidy was one of Team Philippines’ four contestants. Two other teammates each won a bronze medal at the competition.
Considered the Olympics of computing for high school students, IOI’s 2022 event attracted 349 participants from 88 countries, and was described as “arguably one of the toughest iterations” of the competition. The IOI is one of the science Olympiads that enables its medalists to be granted scholarships and perks by global universities, organizations, and companies, and is used by observers to determine the level of education, skills, and competitiveness of participating countries.
Cassidy is also a member of the ASHS ProgVar co-curricular organization.
