AGS renews commitment to ACED’s Food Packs Program
24 Nov 2022
The Ateneo de Manila Grade School (AGS) renewed its commitment to the Ateneo Center for Educational Development’s Food Packs Program. In particular, AGS committed to support food packs for 100 children each from two schools from November 2022 to September 2023. The two schools are the Payatas B Annex Elementary School in Quezon City and Felix Elementary School in Cainta.
The food packs consist largely of vegetables sourced directly from farmers. At the start and end of the 40 weeks, BMI and grades of the children will be collected to assess the impact of the program. In past evaluations, ACED’s feeding programs have proven to be effective in enhancing educational outcomes.
The two schools are the designated community partners for Grades 2 and 3. Funds are raised primarily via the Bigay Puso project where students fill up Bigay Puso canisters with coins or raise funds with their parents. The Grade 2 and 3 students of the AGS also get to interact online with their counterparts from the public schools. The various activities are overseen by the homeroom advisers and the Social Involvement Office of the AGS.
Other grade levels have other community partners including Katipunan jeepney drivers whose livelihoods were badly affected by the pandemic, Philippine General Hospital scholars, the Philippine Jesuit Caloocan mission station, and the Philippine Jesuit Prison Service.
For more information on the ACED Food Packs program, please contact Mrs. Amelia P. Dycoco through aced@ateneo.edu. To support the program, you may purchase ACED Christmas e-cards for a donation of at least P120. P120 is enough to augment the meals of beneficiaries for one week.
