OSCI conducts preparatory activities with stakeholders

OSCI Student Affairs Professionals are currently preparing for the area engagements this second semester. They have been conducting meetings with academic departments, visiting partner organizations and communities for the area engagement activities to ensure the safety and security of all stakeholders, and preparing syllabus and modules for the students.
Here are some pictures taken by OSCI Student Professionals during a visit to Buklod Tao Inc in San Mateo, Rizal. Chemistry and Chemistry-MSE majors taking SocSc13 and CHEM 133.02 will be engaging with the members of the community and doing chemical analysis of their products and natural resources during their area engagements.
Another crucial activity during the preparatory visit is planning with the members of the community. Leaders and members of Buklod Tao Inc. share their expectations of and questions about the Bigkis program such as the possible outputs of the students in relation to their needs. The OSCI formators address their concerns and level-off expectations.
As one of the Chemistry faculty members who will be working with the NSTP12-Bigkis Formators and Social Science 13 faculty members this semester shared during the alignment meeting, we hope that students will see the value of their course in contributing to society and finding possible solutions to the needs of marginalized communities. Chemistry is not just delegated to commercial or capitalist reasons but also for assisting in the economic, environmental, and physical health and well-being of communities.
