Fr Roberto Yap SJ, University President, was sworn in as a member of the Board of Trustees of the state think tank Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) on Monday, 20 March 2023.

Yap, a trained economist, was sworn in by Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Arsenio Balisacan Jr of the National Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) who serves as the PIDS Board's chairperson.

PIDS is the government's primary socioeconomic policy think tank, established in 1977 to conduct studies in aid of government policy-making. It is a government-owned and controlled corporation, and is under NEDA.

The Institute said Yap will serve in the PIDS Board alongside Balisacan, and Board members PIDS President Aniceto Orbeta Jr, Agricultural Guarantee Fund Pool Governing Board Member Gilberto Llanto, and University of the Philippines System Vice President for Academic Affairs Maria Cynthia Rose Bautista.
