29 Apr 2023
Ateneo de Manila Junior High School students Joey Enriquez (La Storta/7-Corby) and Nathan Ballatan (La Storta/8-Dajani) won medal awards in the Philippine Heat Round of the Hong Kong International Science Olympiad (HKISO), which was held online on November 27, 2022. Joey won the gold medal for the secondary 1 division while Nathan won silver in the secondary 2 division.
The HKISO is a global science competition held annually for students from Grades 2 to 12. It closely follows the Hongkong School Science Syllabus and tests what students have learned in their level of content in its four main categories (Physics, Biology, Chemistry, Integrated Science), thus allowing them to know their strengths and weaknesses so they can better prepare for the other categories.
As heat round medalists, Joey and Nathan are invited to join the HKISO Final Round either online or onsite from June 8 -12, 2023. The onsite Olympiad will be held at National University of Singapore and will also give participants from different countries and regions the opportunity to work on a few experiments together.
