Rebuilding classrooms in Nueva Ecija through the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc.
03 May 2023
Last September 2022, Super Typhoon Karding swept through Luzon after intensifying from a severe tropical storm to a super typhoon within hours. Several schools in Nueva Ecija were severely damaged and reached out to ACED for any possible assistance.

Through the assistance provided by the Gokongwei Brothers Foundation, Inc., Ateneo de Manila was able to respond positively to the requests of Pagtalunan High School and Tagumpay Nagaño High School through the Ateneo Center for Educational Development. These two schools were recommended by ACED to GBFI from among the schools that reached out for help so that classes may continue. The ceilings in the third floor of Tagumpay Nagaño High School were destroyed and classes couldn't continue effectively because of the heat and noise. Pagtalunan High School lost all its walls. GBFI provided the funding for the projects while ACED coordinated with the schools and supervised the rehabilitation of school facilities.

Tagumpay Nagaño High School is located in San Leonardo, NE while Pagtalunan High School is located in General Tinio, NE.
Dr. Carmela Oracion and Mr. Nelson Janoras from ACED and Ms. Graciela Mendoza and Ms. Karla Ngitngit from GBFI joined DepEd Officials, the school principals, teachers, students, and parents during the inauguration of the facilities in the two schools last 26 April 2023. The school communities were very grateful for this gift from GBFI through Ateneo.
