Nakila bags bronze for PH in Math Olympiad

Ateneo de Manila Junior High School mathlete Aegean Nakila (Montserrat/8-Ireland) won a bronze medal for the Philippines in the 2022 Philippine International Mathematical Olympiad (PhIMO) Final Round, which was held online on the Eklavvya platform on September 25, 2022.  He competed in the secondary 1 division.

Now in its second year, the PhIMO is the newest and most sophisticated international mathematics competition among kindergarten to grade 12 students. It is designed to honor the world’s best learners in mathematical problem-solving through friendly competition, and to foster cultural exchange among its participating countries. The 2022 Olympiad attracted mathletes from Australia, Bulgaria, Cambodia, Egypt, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Iran, Malaysia, Philippines, Sir Lanka, Thailand and Vietnam.

Six educational institutions partner with Ateneo for ProbSET 2.0

Ateneo's Department of Mathematics launched the second iteration of Problem Solving Enrichment and Training (or ProbSET) last 22 July 2023. Here, Southern Luzon State University (SLSU), West Visayas State University (WVSU), and DepEd Division of Davao de Oro (DepEd DdO) renewed their partnership with ProbSET. They were joined by new partners Central Luzon State University (CLSU), Iloilo Science and Technology University(ISAT-U), and DepEd Division of Ormoc City (DepEd Ormoc).

Applied Mathematics students present papers at the 4th ICoAIMS conference

Last August, a group of recently graduated Applied Mathematics students presented research papers at the 4th International Conference on Applied & Industrial Mathematics and Statistics (ICoAIMS) 2023 held in Kuantan, Malaysia. Six (6) papers, which were all outputs of their respective undergraduate theses, were accepted for oral presentation. And two of them won "Best Paper" awards.
