Tab Baldwin, coach of the Ateneo Blue Eagles, was recently inducted into the Basketball New Zealand Hall of Fame for his “distinguished contribution” to the sport of basketball.
A Florida native who moved to New Zealand in the 80s, Baldwin has coached a multitude of teams throughout his career, including New Zealand’s Otago Nuggets, Auckland Stars and Tall Blacks, as well as other teams from Lebanon, Jordan, and the Philippines. He currently serves as the head of the Gilas Pilipinas Youth national basketball program.

The annual Basketball New Zealand Awards, held on 6 May 2023, handed out awards to 24 recipients, including Baldwin, for their excellence and achievement in basketball for the year 2022. In the Basketball New Zealand Hall of Fame, Baldwin is joined by Leigh Houston, Kenny McFadden, Tania Tupu and the 2002 Tall Blacks squad that finished fourth at the FIBA World Champs.
