Ateneo inks partnership with Korea Taekkyeon Association

The Korean Studies Program, in collaboration with the Physical Education Program, welcomed the Korea Taekkyeon Association (KTA) delegation, led by Vice President and Grandmaster Man-Yeob Park on May 24, 2023 for the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between KTA and the Ateneo de Manila University.

Ateneo and KTA have agreed to promote the globalization of Taekkyeon, a traditional Korean martial art registered by UNESCO as an Intangible Heritage of Humanity, through mutual exchange and cooperation. During their visit, the KTA delegation explored and viewed ongoing exhibits at the Areté, Ateneo's hub for arts and innovation. They also conducted Taekkyeon class, providing a unique opportunity for students and enthusiasts to learn from experienced practitioners and facilitated training for Taekkyeon instructors during their one-week stay in the Philippines.
