21 Jun 2023

The National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) led an event entitled “Breaking New Ground: Towards a National Security Research Roadmap” last 15 June to 16 June 2023 at the Discovery Suites, Ortigas Center. The objective of the two-day knowledge session and scoping activity was to substantiate the Philippines’ National Security Research Agenda.
RAdm Rommel Jude Ong (Ret), Professor of Praxis at the Ateneo School of Government, while offering a perspective on conflict, defense, warfare, and dimensions of national power, likewise raised a discourse on the different instruments of national security from the political, economic, and sociological, to the techno-scientific, environmental, and military. RAdm Ong also carefully remarked on a review of the National Security Strategy 2017-2022 and threats to Philippine national security.
The seminar-workshop aims to contribute to the working research definition of human security and identifying priority areas within the latter, according to the National Security Research and Development Program (NSRDP).
Details of the event may be viewed at DOST NRCP’s website and social media page.
