08 Aug 2023
The Ateneo School of Government, through the Ateneo Policy Center, recently conducted a seminar titled “Challenges & Innovations: Establishing ICT for Health in the EU”. The hybrid discussion was led by Dr Henrique Martins, digital health expert and coordinator of the EU-funded eHealth project XPanDH. Held on 5 August 2023, the event was attended by participants from health maintenance organizations, local government units, and the academe.
Dr Martins began his presentation by outlining the main digital health challenges, emphasizing the need for digital inclusion, sovereignty, and sustainability. He also shared notable developments and projects in strengthening eHealth systems in Portugal.
Dr Martins similarly talked about eHealth developments in the context of Europe. He particularly delved into the EU-funded “Expanding Digital Health through a pan-European EHRxF-based Ecosystem” or XpanDH, discussing the landscape, vision, and scope of the project
Dr Martins concluded his presentation by envisioning a global digital healthcare system, wherein a global electronic health record allows the use of health data regardless of geographical, jurisdictional, and language barriers.
The hybrid seminar is part of ASOG’s efforts to promote health innovations and strengthen health accessibility, supporting the University’s thrust in advancing universal health and well-being.
