The School of Humanities regrets the passing of actor
† Robert Arevalo (Robert Francisco Ylagan)
Arevalo was born in Dumaguete on 6 May 1938, and graduated with a degree in Business Administration from Ateneo de Manila University.
He began acting in film in 1960. In 1965, he and his wife Barbara Perez, won the top acting awards of the Filipino Academy of Movie Arts and Sciences for the film “Daigdig ng Mga Api.” He continued to appear on film, television, and theatre until 2017, and won the best screenplay award from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino (1977), as well as best supporting actor awards from the Metro Manila Film Festival in 1990 and the Film Academy of the Philippines in 1994. He also directed several films, worked in advertising, managed Channel 5, and served as news anchor for ABS-CBN.
Arevalo died on August 10, 2023, at the age of 85.
