24 Aug 2023
The Ateneo School of Government (ASoG), represented by its former Dean and Senior Economist Dr Ronald U Mendoza and research assistant Cristine Lian Domingo, shared significant findings from the Ateneo Policy Center's vote buying studies during NAMFREL's Focus Group Discussion at Marco Polo Hotel, Mandaluyong City. This discussion aimed to devise strategies to combat vote buying and selling in the Philippines, especially as the barangay and SK elections approach in October.
Dr Mendoza presented insights and recommendations from the 2019 study, available in the paper titled "Access to Information and Other Correlates of Vote Buying and Selling Behavior: Insights from Philippine Data". Meanwhile, Ms. Domingo highlighted the latest quantitative findings and insights from ASOG's ongoing 2022 vote buying study.
This event, organized by NAMFREL in collaboration with the PARTICIPATE consortium, served as a platform for informed discussions on enhancing electoral integrity. Watch out for upcoming updates on the public release of the latest vote buying study results.
