Ateneo, AC Health host 4th Health Leadership Summit

Last August 31, 2023, AC Health together with the Ateneo School of Law, Ateneo School of Medicine and Public Health, Ateneo Graduate School of Business, and Ateneo School of Government held the 4th Annual Health Leadership Summit. This year’s theme was “Human Resources for Health in Light of Universal Healthcare”. The summit was held at the Dr Ricardo & Rosita Leong Hall of the Ateneo de Manila University.

Notable experts in the field of health attended the event.

Department of Health Secretary Teodoro Javier Herbosa gave a special message on the state of the health industry of the country.

Dir Johanna S Banzon, Director of Health Human Resource Development Bureau, Department of Health, gave the first keynote lecture. Her lecture was entitled “Universal Health Care through the Lens of Human Resources for Health in the Philippines.”  Dr Suwit Wibulpolprasert, Senior Advisor, Health Ministry of Thailand, gave the second keynote lecture. His lecture was entitled, “Perspectives on Human Resources for Health Management Strategies in Developing Countries.”

After the keynote lectures, an expert panel discussed initiatives on the Human Resources for Health.

Dr Cenon Alfonso, Dean of the Ateneo School of Medicine & Public Health, presented the “Perspectives on Training/Education of Healthcare Professionals.” The “Perspectives on HRH Policies and Migration” was presented by Atty Hans Leo Cacdac, Undersecretary of the Department of Migrant Workers. Dr Kenneth Hartigan-Go, Program Director of Ateneo Policy Center School of Government gave “Perspectives on Leadership & Governance.” The “Perspectives on HR from the Lens of the LGU” was presented by Dr Roselle Tolentino, City Health Officer of San Jose Del Monte Bulacan. Finally, the “Perspectives on HRH from the Private Sector” was presented by Mrs Margaret Bengzon, Group Chief Operating Officer of Healthway QualiMed Network.

Atty Jose Maria G Hofileña, Dean of the Ateneo School of Law, started the event with an invocation. Mr Cezar P Consing, President and CEO of Ayala Corporation welcomed the participants to the event. Fr Robert Yap, SJ, President of Ateneo de Manila University, gave the opening remarks. Dr Maria Luz Vilches, Vice President for Higher Education of Ateneo de Manila University gave a message on behalf of the schools. Mr Paolo Borromeo, President & CEO of AC Health, gave the closing remarks.
