Ateneo Law hosts CALESA Conference

On 4 September 2023, the Ateneo School of Law hosted a conference titled, “The Relational Approach and Constitutional Jurisprudence as Tools in the Search for Justice.” The conference was held as part of the CALESA Project between a number of Philippine and European law schools. CALESA is the acronym for “Capacity building for Legal and Social Advancement in the Philippines.“

Maria Salas Porras, Professor of Labour Law at the University of Malaga, presented “The Added Value of the Relational Justice Approach.” Following this, Atty Teodoro Alejandro Y Kalaw IV, Professor of Law at Ateneo de Manila University provided a reaction to the presentation of Professor Salas.

Jose Joao Abrantes, President of the Portuguese Constitutional Court and Full Professor of Labour Law at the Nova de Lisboa, gave an insightful presentation on “Human Rights and Constitutional Jurisprudence.” Atty Sedfrey M Candelaria, Chief of Office, Research, Publications and Linkages Office, Philippine Judicial Academy and Professor of Law, Ateneo de Manila University, then shared his observations on the presentation and provided a Philippine perspective on the topic.
Dr Maria Luz C Vilches, Vice President for Higher Education of Ateneo de Manila University gave the welcome remarks. Atty Jose Maria G Hofileña, Dean of the Ateneo School of Law gave the closing remarks.
The conference was held at the Ricardo and Dr. Rosita Leong Hall, Ateneo de Manila University.
